On December 22, 2000 the Hudson Kiwanis, the Hudson City Schools, and Mr. David J. Gagat entered into an agreement to construct an indoor instructional facility for baseball and softball. The Hudson Kiwanis, through their foundation, will serve as the fiscal administrator, collecting, holding and distributing the funds. The Hudson City School District will provided the site on the High School campus, south of the High School on Stow Road. The total estimated cost of the project is $120,000. Mr. David Gagat generously provided the seed money to begin the planning stage, and then matched contributions to $70,000 for the construction phase of the project.

Gagat Outside

Mr. Gagat waged a courageous battle with ALS or more commonly referred to as "Lou Gehrig’s Disease", but passed away in 2005. He made a commitment to provide funding so his vision "to provide a facility in the Hudson community that can be used year around to help kids of all ages to be better ball players" can be realized.

CVS, The Hudson Kiwanis, and The Hudson Athletic Booster Club each made contributions toward the facility exceeding $5,000, which greatly enabled the project to be completed on November 1, 2001.
